Soft blankets, animal and music therapy, education programs and the best equipment make a real difference.
For the last 15 years, the Fund has provided patients with comfort through the Buddy Blanket Program and therapy programs. It has provided continuing education for medical staff. It has financially supported the families of cancer patients. It has armed the Montreal Children’s Hospital with the state-of-the-art medical equipment needed to more effectively and efficiently treat its young patients.
Working in close collaboration with the Montreal Children’s Hospital Foundation, Cedars Cancer Foundation and Cedars’ Medical Advisory Committee, Sarah Fund is continually evaluating opportunities to sponsor priority equipment purchases, important services and other priority needs to ease the care and treatment of young patients and their families who are battling cancer on Sarah’s Floor.
Our Board of Directors and Medical Advisory committee are continually evaluating opportunities to sponsor priority equipment purchases, important services and other urgent needs to ease the care and treatment of young patients and their families battling cancer on Sarah’s Floor. Here are a few that we are actively committed to:
Quebec’s 1st intra-operative MRI is an incredible new addition to one of the operating rooms at the Montreal Children’s Hospital. Construction was completed in Fall 2009. Sarah’s Fund committed a million dollars towards the acquisition of this essential piece of equipment, impacting both the surgeon’s effectiveness and the hospital’s recruiting ability. The MRI dramatically improves the care and treatment of children with brain tumours. By being right in the operating room, the Intra-Operative MRI saves precious time and reduces risk.
More than ever, families need financial support to get through the most difficult challenge they have ever faced. Sarah’s Fund helps families in need with meals, special transportation and other unexpected expenses.
Sarah’s Fund wants to wrap every sick child with warmth and caring. That is why we are giving every newly diagnosed child on Sarah’s Floor at the Montreal Children’s Hospital a special, cozy Buddy Blanket. To take home and we will donate a second blanket on your behalf to a child at the Children’s. You can help us to wrap all children with warmth and caring, thank you for being a Buddy!
Continuing education for Nurses is essential in the recruitment and retention of our dedicated medical professionals. Our mission is to keep Sarah’s Floor at the forefront of the best cancer care possible.
The Kids for Kids annual party funded this piece of equipment, which is essential for children undergoing radiation therapy.
We need your compassion and generosity to continue funding these essential programs and services for our young cancer patients, their families and the dedicated people who care for them!
