Since being diagnosed with a rare form of cancer when she was just 8 years old, Sarah Cook has dedicated most of her life to helping kids and teenagers treated at the Montreal Children’s Hospital on the ward that bears her name. The many projects supported by Sarah’s Fund since 2001 have had an immeasurable impact on pediatric hematology-oncology patients and their families-and beyond-raising over $14 million.
Now in her 30s, Sarah is herself an inspiration to the many children, teens and young adults facing this journey. And thanks to your support of Sarah’s Fund, we are providing what they need every step of the way.
The Fund has supported the Hematology-Oncology Division at The Children’s, with transformational results including: state-of-the-art upgrades for treatment rooms; research labs; and funding for Sarah’s Floor the patient unit at The Children’s.
We are all one family battling cancer together.
Our Mission
At Sarah’s Fund for Cedars, the well-being of young patients and their families living with cancer is our top priority-and we take a whole-health approach to addressing their and their families’ needs including leading patient care, research and education at Montreal’s Children’s Hospital.
Our Vision
To make a meaningful difference in the life of each child and teenager touched by cancer at the Montreal Children’s Hospital at the MUHC.
Meet Sarah Cook
When you are a kid, you dream about what you want to be when you grow up. Things like, “Oh, I want to be a firefighter.” I didn’t dream like that. Cancer meant that I lived one day at a time. I only discovered what was possible as I got older and began to give myself permission to explore my passions. Early on, I didn’t have someone that I could look up to and imagine, “Hey, that could be me.” It means a lot to be that person for the kids on Sarah’s Floor.
For 20 years, Sarah’s Fund for Cedars has dedicated its fundraising to Sarah’s Floor’s. You provide essential support to cancer patients and their families, and it is in part because of you that we are able to deliver the highest quality of care possible. Thank you.

Founders’ Message: From Our Family to Yours
When Sarah was first diagnosed, she asked me: “Mommy, why me?”. I said, one day, something good will come out of this. And, thankfully, something good has. Her survival spurred us to do more to help others in similar situations. Over more than two decades, thanks to the dedication and generosity of thousands of people, Sarah’s Fund has grown substantially with ambitious plans now on the horizon.
By making a gift today you are doing more than supporting our mission. You are bringing smiles to our young patients facing the battle of their lives. You are standing with cancer patients and their families at their time of greatest need. You are making dreaming for the future possible.
